Auxiliary verbs

"Aren't" is a contraction of "are not". It is used to express negation or to ask a question in the present tense. For example, "I aren't going to the party" would express negation, and "Aren't you coming to the party?" would be used as a question.

  1. You aren't going to the party tonight, are you?
  2. I'm sorry, but those shoes aren't available in your size.
  3. They aren't doing very well in school this semester, despite their efforts.
