How to Use a Compass

1. Perform this Away from Magnets:

• Ensure that you are standing away from any magnets or magnetic interference to get an accurate reading.
  

2. Hold it Horizontally:

• Make sure to hold the compass level to the ground. This ensures that the needle can move freely and point accurately.

3. Wait for the Needle to Stop Moving:

• Once you have the compass level, stay still and wait for the needle to stop moving. This may take a few moments.

4. Align the North Marking with the Needle:

• Slowly turn the dial of the compass until the “North” marking on the compass aligns with the end of the needle that is colored (usually the north end of the needle is painted a different color).
