Respect for the Aged Day

This is also a national holiday in Japan that is celebrated on the third Monday of September. It is a day to honor and appreciate the elderly, who have helped your family and society for many years.

 

Children often visit their grandparents or other elderly relatives to thank them.
Originally the day used to be called “Elderly People’s Day”  The name was changed to “Respect for the Aged Day” in 1966.
