leek
A leek is a long, green and white vegetable that belongs to the allium family, along with onions and chives. The edible part of the leek is the white bulb and the light green stalk. The dark green leaves are typically tougher and not eaten very often.
Examples:
- My mom carefully sliced the white part of the leek for tonight's stir-fry.
- I saw many leeks in my cousin's farm.
- Leeks can be enjoyed raw, cooked, or even grilled.
