fiddleheads
Fiddleheads are a spring vegetable with a short season. They look like the fancy scroll at the end of a violin – that's where the name "fiddlehead" comes from. They contain a toxin that can make you sick if you eat them raw.
Examples:
- Be careful not to overcook the fiddleheads, or they'll lose their nice crunch.
- Did you know fiddleheads are a type of fern, not actually a green bean?
- The farmers market had a limited supply of fresh fiddleheads this morning.
