Cats:Why Do Cats Purr?

Cats

Purring is a low-pitched sound that cats make when they are content, relaxed, or feeling affectionate.

Relaxation and contentment: Cats often purr when they are being petted, groomed, or spending time with their owners.

Stress reduction: Purring can help reduce pain and anxiety in cats during stressful situations.

Communication: Kittens purr to their mothers to communicate their need for warmth and nourishment.

Some cats purr when they are in pain or discomfort, as a way of self-soothing.
Purring can be a sign of a happy and healthy cat, but it can also be a sign of an underlying medical condition. If your cat is suddenly purring more or less than usual, it is a good idea to consult with a veterinarian.
