Parts of a Plant
Let's look at a flower!
A flower is made up of several different parts that work together to help it grow.
Stem
The stem is the part of the flower that helps it stand up to reach the sun.
Roots
The roots of the flower are working underground to keep the flower to get water and nutrients from the soil.
Bud
The bud is a part of the flower that is tightly closed and contains the petals of the flower.
Leaves
The leaves of the flower get energy from the sun to help it grow and produce sugar, which feeds the plant.

Now, let's look at a tree!
Roots
The roots are like a tree's feet. They are buried deep in the soil and help the tree to drink water and get the nutrients it needs to survive.
Trunk
The trunk is the big, sturdy body of the tree that supports the branches and leaves.
Branches
The branches are like the tree's arms, they spread out and hold up the leaves.
Leaves
The leaves are like the tree's lungs, they take in carbon dioxide and turn it into oxygen.
Fruit
A fruit on a tree starts out small and green, but over time it grows and ripens into a delicious treat!
Trees and plants are very important in of our environment. They provide us with oxygen and food, and also give us a place to play and explore!
