[eigot a.s.] Plants 002 – 04 Seed Dispersal

Do you know how the plants of the seeds travel?

We all know that humans can plant anywhere, but some seeds travel by nature.

We call this "seed dispersal".

To start, let's talk about what a seed is. A seed is a tiny package that contains everything a plant needs to grow. It contains food, water, and a special code that tells the seed what kind of plant it will become. When the conditions are just right, the seed will start to grow into a new plant.

Dispersal means a movement of a living things from one place to another. It helps to spread species out so that they can find food and other resources. Dispersal can be done in different ways.

For example, some seeds will travel on their own, like dropping it on the ground. Some seeds might get carried in the wind, water, or even on the back of animals. When a dandelion seed is blown away by the wind, that's an example of a seed dispersal.

Seeds can be dispersed in 4 main ways.

The first way is wind. Some seeds have ways that lets the wind carry them to another area. Dandelion seeds are a great example of this.

The second way is water. Some plants have seeds that float on the surface of the water. This helps them spread to a new place.

The third way are the animals. Some animals carry them without knowing, sticking to their bodies. Some eat the seeds from plants and then spread them in their droppings.  This helps the plant spread to new areas.

The fourth way is through humans. Humans can pick up the seeds and plant it anywhere!

Seed dispersal is an important part of the life cycle of plants. It helps plants to spread their seeds to new areas where they can grow and thrive.
This is the process of getting the seed from the parent plant to a new area.
