Shitennō-ji Temple

Shitennō-ji Temple

Shitennō-ji Temple, located in Osaka, Japan, is one of the country's oldest official temples, dating back to the Asuka period (592–710 AD).
The temple was founded by Prince Shōtoku, a significant political and religious figure who played a crucial role in spreading Buddhism in Japan.

The construction of Shitennō-ji began as a vow to help people suffering from illness.
The name "Shitennō-ji" derives from the "Four Heavenly Kings" of Buddhist tradition, symbolizing the temple's purpose to protect peace and the well-being of people.

Throughout its long history, Shitennō-ji has been rebuilt several times, particularly after damages caused by wars and natural disasters. Despite these reconstructions, the temple has retained its traditional architectural style.

Today, Shitennō-ji is a place of cultural significance, attracting numerous visitors. The temple complex features beautiful gardens and historical structures, and hosts various religious events.
